Hope in the Heart of Beirut

Nicole Mourad’s Ministry at the Elpis Clinic

In every smile, a seed of hope. In every encounter, a whisper of grace.

From the Clinic to the Heart

At the Elpis Clinic in Beirut, Nicole Mourad serves as a faithful ambassador of Christ’s love - offering not only care and compassion but the eternal message of salvation. With each patient encounter, she creates space for healing conversations - where wounds of the body often open the door for restoration of the soul. Many arrive with burdens too deep for words. Nicole listens, prays, and gently guides hearts toward the truth of God’s love and redemptive plan. Whether through one-on-one conversations, written devotionals, or spiritual booklets, she extends the invitation to experience a Savior who sees, knows, and cares.

A Ministry of Conversations and Commitments

Nicole’s outreach often begins with a simple question: “How is your spiritual health and the condition of your heart?” This question, shared through a thoughtfully designed Arabic booklet, opens the door to meaningful conversations about God’s love and His purposes for each life.

More than 200 individuals have engaged in conversations about faith and eternity. Many express interest in learning more, while others take home resources to read or share with others. Through this ministry:

  • Dozens have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
  • New believers are encouraged to begin reading the Bible, starting with the Gospel of John.
  • Spiritual follow-up continues through WhatsApp, home visits, and encouraging messages.
  • A growing number have requested additional booklets to share with friends, neighbors, or coworkers.

Transforming Compassion: A Widow’s Encounter with God’s Love

During our recent Lebanon medical mission, one patient stood out—a Sudanese widow with four children. She came to our mobile clinic seeking help for a chronic condition but left with far more than physical relief. After receiving care, one of our volunteers spent time with her, offering a listening ear and praying for her family. The widow broke down in tears, explaining that she had never felt so seen or loved in years. When we gave her a Bible, she hugged it tightly and said, “This is the first time I’ve been given something that brings hope.” Since then, she has stayed in touch with one of our team members and continues to explore faith and healing.

Grief Interrupted by Grace – The Story of Youssef’s Mother

Youssef’s mother arrived at our Lebanon clinic shattered by the recent loss of her son. Her grief was overwhelming. She came for medical treatment but found something unexpected: a community that embraced her with compassion. Our team offered prayer and encouragement, and she returned the next day—not for medicine, but for peace. After a short time, she joined a local Bible study group and has continued attending weekly. She now says that while the pain of loss remains, she has found a peace that helps her face each day.

“I’ve Been Waiting for This.”

Najah Eid came from the Beqaa Valley with her husband. Though unable to read, she was moved by the message of Jesus shared with her in a compassionate and simple way. She joyfully accepted Him as her Savior, and her husband, a Christian, was overwhelmed with gratitude.

Whispers of Faith

Fatima, a young woman from a Muslim background, quietly expressed her desire to follow Christ. Fearing her family’s reaction, she asked for privacy and support. Nicole reassured her that she could continue exploring her faith safely and at her own pace.

A Nurse Becomes a Messenger

After receiving the spiritual health booklet, a nurse caring for an elderly patient asked for extra copies to share with others, saying she wanted her friends to encounter the same message of love and hope.

The Joy of Salvation

Eid Khodor and his sons came to the clinic discouraged. By the time they left, they were rejoicing. Eid shared how he had come from a Muslim background but had given his life to Christ—soon followed by his wife. Their story became a beacon of joy and transformation.

Beyond the Clinic Walls

Nicole’s ministry reaches far beyond clinic hours. With a heart for the displaced and marginalized, she actively participates in:

  • Home visits to families in need—offering medicine, prayer, and spiritual encouragement.
  • Medical and outreach campaigns at schools and professional centers in Beirut and Mount Lebanon.
  • Special gatherings for women and youth that combine hospitality, joy, and the Word of God.
  • Spiritual follow-up through broadcasts, Bible verse sharing, and Christian media.
  • Distribution of Risalat Al-Kalima, a biblical magazine addressing life’s spiritual and social challenges.

Nicole’s grandson has even joined in the mission, sharing the message of Jesus with children in ways only a child can.

Ongoing Discipleship and Community

Through her continuous follow-up, Nicole encourages many to take their next steps in faith:

  • Women express interest in joining future Bible study groups and monthly spiritual gatherings.
  • Patients continue to receive encouragement through Scripture and personal follow-up.
  • Some new believers now open their homes for prayer and Christian fellowship.
  • Others, like Mrs. Leila Azar, are using the same booklets to evangelize within their own communities.

“To All Who Received Him…”

“But to all who did receive Him, He gave the right to become children of God - to those who believe in His name.”
 John 1:12

Nicole’s ministry at the Elpis Clinic reminds us that every moment of compassion can become a doorway to eternity. Through every conversation, every prayer, and every act of love, Christ is made known.

Please keep Nicole and the ministry at Elpis in your prayers. May the seeds planted continue to bear fruit for His Kingdom.
